What are all of those shiny, cylindrical objects on the rooftops? They look like water tanks, or something.

it's funny how you mentioned that... I was once asked the very same question by american colleagues. yep, they're water tanks. Don't know why we have them?!

I guess we take everyday mundane things for granted.

I got depressed living in my Taiwanese city of Jongli because the view out my apartment window was just like this, and being raised in the country made it difficult for me to adjust to living in the city. What's really cool is watching Taiwanese hang up their laundry to dry on the rooftops!
